Since moving to Chicago, I've realized being Southern is actually a small little gift the universe has given me. When I was younger I used to hate it with every ounce of myself and I was so ashamed that I was by birth uncivilized. I still have a little insecurity with the fact that I was born in Alabama. I'm just realizing that being raised in the South caused me to dream bigger and work harder, and of course always say please and thank you.
